The “What a Revolting Development, or, Porky’s Revenge” unit uses Orwells’s Animal Farm and covers government and politics, economics, business and finance, algebra, propaganda, freedom of speech, literature.

Resources include Usborne Books, Joy Hakim, Klutz Books, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and books about homeschooling, as well as Growing Without Schooling the iconic magazine published by John Holt in the pioneer days of 20th century homeschoooling.
Singapore Math Yes, it’s from Sinagapore, where English is the language of instruction. Since 1998, this has won the respect of homeschoolers and institutional schools alike. Uses simple manipulatives (many you can make) to teach concepts, then moves to applications, problem solving, and “math thinking”. Teacher guides available. K-12 books and materials available.
Miquon Math
Hands-on exploration of concepts introduces mathematics to young children. “Miquon Math introduces all four arithmetic operations and work with fractions in the first year. By the third year, students are graphing algebraic equations.” Stand-alone or supplemental. K-3
Bluestocking Press carries an assortment of books on economics, government, and history. Their “Whatever Happened to Penny Candy” is a homeschooling classic.

Math-U-See materials focus on the use of manipulative materials (base 10 blocks, fractions overlays, etc) to teach math skills from basic counting through to precalculus. Placement tests in PDF format available on website. 1-12
Key Curriculum Press
offers the well-regarded “Key to…” workbooks that present math skills in a easy to follow format, with answer keys included. They also offer other texts and software.
